Committees

An overview of committees and volunteer opportunities.

Chamber Committes & Special Task Forces

We hope that you will get involved in the Chamber by joining a committee. As a committee member, you will not only be supporting the Chamber but increasing your opportunities to meet other Chamber members and grow your business. Remember, the more you put into your membership, the more you will get out of it.

Every committee except the Executive Committee can use additional help and members. If you would like to find out more information about our committees or would like to join one, please contact the committee chair or you can reach out to Vicki at via email at ed@gdcoc.org or by calling 410-284-3700.

The members are the Welcome & Hospitality Committee work as Chamber Ambassadors. Our Ambassadors promote goodwill and communicate the mission of the Chamber to our new and existing members. In addition, they encourage members to get involved. The Ambassadors are the face of the Chamber and link to new members. They assist with Chamber events, participate in Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies, and act as official hosts. They are the liaison between new and existing members and along with the Marketing & Membership Committee work to increase Member-to-Member engagement.

The Workforce Development Committee focuses on skill development, internship programs, apprenticeships, and job opportunities. The Chamber works in conjunction with other organization such as the Baltimore County Public Library, schools  and many local businesses to hold job fairs and create programs that will help with interviewing, resume writing, and other vital workplace skills. Community Relations & Government Committee**

The committee will review reports from the Maryland Chamber of Commerce about issues affecting the business community, discuss potential advocacy activity, and in turn relay that information to our Membership base through our monthly publication, Chamber Connections. In addition to keeping up-to-date about issues, the Committee members also will present issues to our elected officials on behalf of the Chamber to ensure our Members’ voices are heard when legislation is being considered. The Community and Government Relations Committee will take an active role in planning speakers and programs that inform and enlighten Chamber members. In addition, this committee works to bring needed resources to the area. As such, this committee oversees the Farmer's Market from June to October as it currently serves an area that is considered a "food desert" by USDA standards.

Committee Chair: Elaine Welkie

Programs & Events Committee

This committee works to develop and plan programs and events that bring value to the membership and to our community. Our offerings include training & educational sessions & speakers, networking opportunities, legislative information & advocacy, charitable endeavors, open houses, and social events. Sub-committees are established for some of our signature events such as the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Outstanding Teachers' Awards Banquet, Business Expo/Community Resources Fair, Business Awards Gala among more. As you can see there is plenty of opportunity to get involved and each Chair an event!
